The 4.8 and 5.3 definitely share the same rods.. The cranks are different as well as the pistons with the 5.3 being dished and the 4.8 flat.

Can you verify this? Do you have one of each of them you could take a picture of?

I'm not calling BS .. I just want to know for sure, and what brings you to decide that.

Thanks.

I don't know how long a rod you want in your bore, but if your gonna make much power the crank for the 4L 80 trans is my choice. There seems to be a lot of 4L60 thrashing in this forum.

Thanks Speartech, very informative

I'll try to remember to take some pics this afternoon between football games.. We have several engines including a 4.8L, 5.3L, LS1, and a LQ4 6.0L torn apart in the garage.. What exactly do you need a picture of? Any special requests? Any weights needed that can be done on a cheap bathroom scale?

A rod of a 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 lined up. That should show for sure without doubt.

Maybe line them up on a line or something at the bottom, and lay something across the top to line them up and show any length differences.
