Default 4.8 to 5.7

so is it worth the time and money it would take to convert my 4.8 to a 5.7?
most say 6.0 swap but i just got a built 4l60e so i wanna keep it.

how much will it run to convert it?
(i dont mean swap a 4.8 to a 5.7(ls1) i mean make my 4.8 a 5.7)

thanks Robert

What makes you think the 6.0 won't bolt up to your 4L60E? FYI, it will work.

Go to a junk yard and find a 6L and just drop it in... everything bolts up.
The Machine shop bill would prob be alot higher than buying a used 6L..

yes its worth it. im not convinced that the 6.0 pushes much if any more power down than the ls1. people usually recomend the 6.0's because you can usually find them cheaper. a ls1 swap is the exact same swap as a 6.0 swap. use your 4.8's intake, injectors, throttle body, oil pan, front accessories, and flexplate on the ls1 block/heads and drop it in.

i wanted to keep the 4.8 block and make it into a 5.7 block.

i thought it was alot of pain in the *** work to get the 6.0 to bolt up to a 4l60e?

The 60e will bolt up to a 5.7 and 6.0 just like it was the 4.8. If you shop around you can find a used 5.7 cheaper than you can have your block machined and build your 4.8 into a 5.7. You will loose roughly 80 lbs off the front end also.

the 99-00 or maybe 01 6.0s have the longer crank which is for the 80e but just get a 02 up 6.0- and have fun if you want to go that way

Just get a ls1 or 6.0 short block and swap everything over. Which ever you can get cheaper will be your best bet.
