4/6 drop hooking??
with a 4/6 drop on a 02 silverado would it help or hinder the truck hooking? i have heard it would help b/c it would put more weight on the back tires due to the read end being much lower. but i have also heard it wont hook b.c the weight wont transfer good. so if anyone has done the drop or if any one has any thoughts on it please let me know. thanks

Re: 4/6 drop hooking??
The rear end is still an inch or two higher than my front. Thats with a 2 1/4" front and 4" rear drop. So the weight transfer should still be cool. I think a 4/6 drop might be a little low and would probably not be optimal for the best weight transfer. However I am not sure if this weight transfer would make that much of a difference in acceleration, maybe a 1/10 or more of a second in the quarter.
Just my two cents.

I guess that depending on the brand of the drop parts, the truck will perform better. Since the rear of a factory truck is 2" higher, If you were to get a 4"/6" drop, you could get bigger rims or tires on the rear or smaller rims/tires on the front to give it the forward slant.

Re: 4/6 drop hooking??
do u think the truck would hook better with the 4/6 drop on it than a stock hight? i am going for better hooking with out having to get a locker at this time and found a 4/6 for $400. plus i think it would give the truck a great look with a 4/6 drop and some et streets on the back. so i guess my real question is would the truck hook better with a 4/6 drop, 28" et streets and possible some front runners?? also with a 4/6 drop do you think the truck would sway much if the anti sway bar was removed from the front? i know at stock hight the trucks move a lot b/c of being top heavy but what about with it being that low to the ground... any ideas??

Re: 4/6 drop hooking??
Hey I think you should spend the 400 on a posi if you want to hook. It would be kind of bad to put ET streets with an open diff because people will laugh when you do the burnout. The 4/6 would look sweet as hell though. The kit should come with sway bar adapters but since it is a 4 inch you might have to get a new one.

Re: 4/6 drop hooking??
well i have the et streets already. the only reason i was going to spend the 400 on the drop was b/c i would spend 400 on posi and then spend more to have it installed. i can do the drop my self so it wont cost more.

I think you should get the drop if that is what you want. But sleeper silverado can hook you up with someone who sells Eaton posis for 300 plus shipping whenever you decide to get one.

Re: 4/6 drop hooking??
I installed the DJM 2/4 drop and it improved hook huge. The front hanger has lifted 6inches and the rear hanger up two. This changed spring angle alot and seemed to make the front lift easier putting more weight on the rear. The drop in center of gravity is way better, but now I can't do donnuts. The outside wheel lifts now
