Default 4.3 to 6.0 swap question???

I've searched all over and haven't gotten a clear answer just yet. Hopeully you guys can help me out.

I have a 2005 RCSB v6 silverado with a dead transmission and I recently purchased a
2000 regular cab long bed 2500 with a 6.0

I purchased the 2500 in hopes of having everything I need to do a somewhat headache free swap. But I keep hearing from different people that it won't work and from others that it will work. One guy told me the harness won't work with my 05 and all this other stuff.

Can anybody shine some light on this question before I start digging into both trucks.

The 2000 harness is not plug and play with a 2005. You need a 2003+ harness if you want that.

There are other odds and ends that come into play here too. The 2003+ V8 truck harness would be drive by wire. Then the throttle body, TAC module and pedal should all match if you went DBW.

It's still possible to stay drive by cable though, you'd have to do a little custom wiring to a 03+ harness to make it work.

So I need a DBW intake manifold with a DBW throttle body, tac module, pedal, 03+ harness to make this all work? Will my 05 v6 ecu work? Just need to have it tuned?

From what I understand, yes you'd need the harness/throttle body/TAC and pedal to make it a plug and play as if it was a V8 truck from the factory but just with a 6.0.

I would think the computer would be able to be tuned.
