Default 4.10's and Detroit Locker

Well they're in. The install was a pain, as I have never disassembled G80. Fortunately, I was working at the shop and Mark threw some help my way. The Detroit is not engineered for the new 8.5" 10 bolts on the truck but works well with just a few modifications.

4.10's make street launching more difficult but are gonna kick a$$ at the track. The locker works like a charm and should resolve my slacking 60ft times. No more 1.80-1.90's. Lookin' for solid 1.65-1.70 but we'll see what the ET Streets can take.

Dyno next wednes day to see home much HP the gears consume and Carlsbad on the 29th (maybe)

Sweet, I might have to make the drive down to Carlsbad to see that thing run again. Kent.

Interesting, why will it make street launching more difficult, I think I am missing something here - thanks.

It'll be harder to control tire spin with street tires since the engine will want to rev much quicker with the lower gear.

Richard - Are those 60 foot times your shooting for with the new heads/cam/nitrous setup or just the new gears and locker?

Thanks

Just with traction (gears/locker)... I want to spray out of the hole as my 1.789 60ft was with a delay of .7-.9 secs and spinning on the motor with ET streets.

Good deal! Thanks

How much power do you think the 8.5" rear can take with a good set of gears and a locker?

Is the locker like a spool where it keeps the tires locked all the time? If not does it ratchet around corners and if so how loud would it be?

Thanks

The Detroit lockers are the loudest lockers I think, but they are bad @$$ for track and off road and they don't stay locked like spools.

The Detroit is a ratching locker...its not too loud or annoying but you or anyone in the direct vicinity definately knows you have one. One thing is you cant beat the postive locking action. NO more sigle tire burnouts in the box

Richard, did you get more than one dyno pull in? Did you get an N/A pull?

Just curious
