Default 383 or Ls1

Haven't posted to much on here but nobody else has a opinion on this so i thought I would ask. I took my truck to the dyno the other day and was kinda dispointed and im needing something more than the 5.0 with the Vortech . I was thinking either the ht383 with my charger or just going with a ls type engine. What would you guys do if u were in my shoes? By the way its a 96 RCSB with the 5.0 Vortech supercharger 6 psi

The LT1/4 conversion 383 motors are pretty nice, fairly cheap, and have a good track record. The GenIII - LS1 conversion opens up a whole new line of possibilties tho. There are a few folks running these swaps but in the end finding a nicely priced 99-01 truck is cheaper long term. You have some nice mods currently, cost would probably be my coin flip.

If i were in your shoes i would look at the lt1/lt4 383 possibility like mention above. It should be quick and easy to swap, and put out good numbers also.

I considered both the HT & ZZ 383 crates. I have instead opted for an LQ9 stroker 390. Stock LQ9 (6.0 from SS) is 366, but stroked out it will provide all the torque u can use, and if u spend the bucks for a big set of heads ull get the HP's too. Shud max out near 550rwhp with the Radix. I will opt for some LS6 heads or even some 5.3 heads and port them to keep the costs down and get the torque I want (can always change heads later). This will be about $2G's more than the 383 option I wud guess. Remember tho that ur gonna nedd a tranny as well. If u go with the stock LQ9 u can pull 400-425RWHP for less than $4G's (used) complete with all the harnesses et al. R/

I would like to go with a Ls engine but the down time with my truck being a DD and me and my buddies inexperience with these type of motors I was a thinking just a drop in like a 383 Vortec from Strokerengine.com or something.

save yourself some money and get an lt1 stroker and put the same power for way less. The engines on that sight seem pretty over priced to me.
