Default 342 vs 410

Hey guys I have a 03 tahoe with 342 gears and it is lazy down low, It runs a 16.05 @89 on my g tech. I was wondering what gains I would have if i went to 410s? I do not even go into third gear, but it pulls hard when it gets into its power band. I was just thinking that getting it into its power band faster might help. Thanks in advance.

There is a calculator for gear changes. Put your tire size in and your current gear and the gear you want to check out and it'll tell you what your revs would be at what speed. Leave it at the default tranny setting, that it the correct one for the 4L60e.

I believe you would probably gain .5 sec as long as you dont have any traction problems. I went from 3:42 to 4:10 which magnified my tractions issues. On my truck I run 28.9" dia tires and it turns 2400rpms at 70mph. If you want to improve your quarter mile times you might want to aslo look at a higher stall convertor which will get the rpm's up in the power band faster.

A programmer would do .. something like HyperTech. A bigger torque converter is a good suggestion too. Maybe a Yank TT2600.
