Talked to Art Carr transmissions, they claim that their 4L80E can stand up to 1200hp and can take full throttle shifts into 4th gear.I say I'm going for it,no guts no glory.

Is the REAL Art Carr of California Performance Transmissions? The "Art Carr" name is used by some apparently really shitty trans builders now as they purchased the rights to his name...

Talked to Hughes Transmissions they also said full throttle shifts into 4th are no problem with engines in the 800 to 900hp range.

I talked to my buddy at whipple and he said that you can also turn on all the nessary options to run the 4L80E with out buying the tci addaptive computer. If you have Edit then you can swap tranys with out a problem. I have to ask more questions to find out the exact things to turn on. I know that it is in the trans dia. tables though.

That is what I thought as the 4L80E is in the 1500HD, 2500, and 2500HD trucks and as far as I know they all have the same PCM. You would have to reset the 1-2 and 2-3 shift times, rpms, etc as the internal gears are different. I'd assume the plugs for both of the trannies are the same for the VSS, TCC, etc. but once again I can not be for sure. I would go take some pics of the plugs on a late model 4L80 and some of your 4L60 and compare them.
