3" Y-pipe or true duels for best HP??
#1
I been wondering for the best horsepower results would it be better to run a 3" Y-pipe and single muffler, 3" inlet, duel 2.5" outs (like i always have) or run true duels? Im use to running a 3" Y-pipe and a single muffler on basicly bolt on motors and spray but this new motor should be in the 10s easy and i want all i can get. Just wondering if using the Y-pipe is still the best for my application or should a go to 3" true duels??

I feel my exhaust will net me the best all around power. I wanted an exhaust that was going to always be on my truck, and I don't want cutouts. I really like an X crossover. I made mine, but I copied a Dr. Gas crossover that I bought for my car. I'm sure it isn't exact, but I don't need an absolutely perfect exhaust as my truck is a daily driver. I like a very free flowing exhaust, and if you were going single I would run 3.5 at a bare minimum (that's just me, there are plenty of people on here faster than me with single 3). I have dual 3 and feel mine is plenty to run in the 10's.

I have always ran a Y pipe on trucks..IMO a properly sized 2 into 1 exhaust keeps the exhaust scavenging in effect (each pulse pulling the next). For high hp dual three to a single 3 1/2" sounds good. Both flowmaster and Dr. Gas make true "y merges" that transition rather than simply connect and distrupt flow..My vote is custom Y pipe.......
