im wanting to get a chip for my 08 silverado 5.3L does anyone know what kind would be a good one for my truck? and about how much do they run?

The newer trucks use flash memory, I would suggest a custom tune from one of the sponsors or someone local. Youll be much happier than getting a handheld programmer.
