The resonance of single 4" would probably drive me up the wall. It would kill at 1800 RPM. I don't think you can go wrong with dual 3", as I think it will give you the best across the board power; idle to redline.

I have dual 3" with a 4" tip and 2.5" cutouts; couldn't fit the 3" cutouts because of the larger cats and 4x4 crossmember. I'm happier with this than my old 3" single set up. Do you think I should add an x-pipe or h-pipe? Would it benefit in any way?

Well last night we tigged up my 3'' flanges onto my Pacesetters , still waiting on the Maganflows to get here from Summit so i can finish the instal .

Im making my own true dual 3'' setup with all mandrel bends :

Headers , then up through the tranny crossmember , 3'' cutouts , over into an x-pipe , then since my truck is on a 4/6 drop and i want everything tucked high and tight , we are going to fab up a new carrier bearing crossmember to clear the dual 3'' pipes , then 2 18'' Maganflows dumped before the axle .

It should dound pretty damn mean .

Will take a bunch of pics for you guys when i get it all welded up .

Same reason a turbo will flow more when mounted closer to the header pipes than mounting it back further in the exhaust system...reason why some hotrodders also wrap there exhaust systems with insulation tape...you will have faster exhaust flow with more heat...with dual exhaust sytems you will have more surface area, more weight not to mention the pain in the butt to mount to mufflers and tailpipes....As mention above this system would not be good for a NA engine but great for a SC/Turbo engine!
