hmmm... Ummm i seem to be having some problems finding the heads... The cheapest heads i found on there were 945.00.. too, are those good heads to get? i'm kind of new to heads, i want something that will give me some more power, but don't want to spend a fortune... i have read a couple articles, and seen one guy, with a 4.8l that had these heads on his motor, and he said there were great, with the cam he had too... I don't want to put tooo much money into this motor, because i think eventually it will be cheaper to put a 6.0 in it and go from there, but for now, i'd like to wake up my 4.8 a little more, without spending a fortune on it. Currently i have a Thunder Racing 220/220 112 Cam, Volant Intake, Long Tube pacesetter headers, and 3 inch mandrall bent exaust down to one muffler.... Thanks for any help

That was me, don't let some knuckle head sell you a set of used 243 heads and charge you an astronomical amount because they're off a "corvette" oooh ahh corvette tax time Just call Gunnar at Patriot and order a set of NEW 243 casting heads with standard valves and LS6 springs for $450 shipped to your door like I did. Time to make people with 243 heads stop charging astronomical prices for something that's worth the same as 317 heads.

What's the stock cc on a 4.8L combustion chamber first of all? I'm sure you may lose some compression but the higher flowing heads would more than make up for it.

just have the heads cut to keep compression. then the heads are that much better.

Just have them milled .035" and your compression will be fine and if you want a little more use .040" cometic head gaskets..$400 sounded fair to me but if you can get a set brand new for the same price then it's a no brainer....Are you running any gear?...if not you might get more "seat of the pants" feel with that then with the 243 heads. If you do go with the 243's and have them milled, once installed check your lifter preload...you may need shorter push rods or you can use shims. I went with 7.4 PR's and .030" shims to get mine right
