are 241 heads good for anything
#1
would factory 241 heads be an upgrade on a stock lq4 or lq9. if they were milled down to 5.3 specs would they be okay to put on 5.3. i just have alot of broken exhust bolts on my 5.3 silverado. could i mill 241 down and put them on. or i was thinking of lq4/lq9 swap later on just put them on that. what do you guys think the best thing to do with them

From what iv found the 241 flows about 10cfm more then a stock 5.3 head and have bigger chambers, if you mill them down to the 5.3 chamber size you might pick up 5hp at best, most in the bigger valve on the intake side. A stock lq4/lq9 head flows more then a 241 but has even bigger chambers. Not worth it at all on the 5.3 as far as power, not worth on a 6.0 cause the stock ones are better.

am i beter off getting 243 heads for an lq4 lq9. the 243 are much better than 241. would a stock ls1 cam be an upgrade to 5.3. best case mill the 241 to 5.3 specs and put them on and maybe port them alittle. would ls1 cam be upgrade to 5.3.

Id like to find a use for the 241s as well but they are really not an upgrade from other factory heads. What I would do is buy a set of 243s and mill then .030 and put them on your 5.3, then once you get a 6.0 just put them on the there. This is really one the best heads you can put on a 5.3, you would see little to no gain over a ported one on a 5.3. On the cam theres 2 maybe even 3 different cams they put in the ls1s but I dont know the specs off the top of my head, but they are a tad bigger but also not worth the work I think unless your in there anyways. if you could get your hands on an ls6 cam and put a 3000-3200 stall in it that shouldnt be a bad setup.
