228r in full bolt on 5.3?
#1
I want to run a 228r in my 5.3 that has full bolt ons and 410's.... how would this cam work out over the tsp220 and what is the least amount of converter i would need for it to run to its potential? the guy selling it to me said that people have seen 20 more rwhp over the 220 and a 3000 converter would be fine. i just want a little confirmation with everyone else.

Agreed with TX. That is alot of cam on the stock 5.3 heads, it will work, but the 220 would work just as good, on the stock heads you have.. Also a lil more converter for the 228

I like the 228R cam a lot in cam only 6.0s. On a 5.3 I'd suggest at least a 3200 converter, preferably an SS3600. Have fun man, I'm sure the lope and power will put a smile on your face

And what about stepping down to a tsp 224 112lsa.... I would think that would be the best for my taste wich is mid to high end power and wanting something that will cam hard. Ordering cam tonight an I want to make the right choice. 3200 yank is what I will be using what's the cam is in

you'll be happier with the 3600 I would say you just cant floor it from a stop and expect to hook. i would almost say the same with the 3200 so why not just get the bigger stall would get like 9mpg in city probably with the 3600.
