Default 228r cam install 5.3 install

I have my 01 SILVERADO 5.3 and needed to replace my manifold cause it was leaking have my 228r cam my 7.4 rods and beehive springs I am in DFW area and really need help never installed a cam before and would love to do my own

Can't help you as I'm a good distance away, but don't be intimidated. Theres plenty of good write ups online of how to do it. The springs are just a time consuming as the cam IMO. Maybe grab a friend with some knowledge to supervise, then go for it!

it really isn't that hard at all, LS1tech has a step by step write up that I still use just so I don't forget anything

Thanks guys yea I am little intimidated on doing it and my 3 friends are just as clueless as I am and not many LS truck guys

If you decide to let a shop do the work, check out SNL Performance, they are great people, reasonably priced, and are on the north side of Ft. Worth. I had them do a cam swap in my GTO. Matt, the guy that does the tuning, is a really good tuner too.

If you truly have no clue then the LS1howto.com write up shouldnt be your only guide. If you re familiar with engines in general than the LS1 family is very easy to work on.

my first time cracking an engine open for a cam swap was based on ls1howto.com alone. worked like a charm.

BUT I had a friend with me who had done it before. I would have been pretty nervous without him there.
