2013 4.8-6.2 Swap
#1
Hi all
I have a 2013 rcsb 2WD sierra with the 4.8 and I'm looking into swapping a 6.2 into it. Preferably a 6.2 from something 2013 or newer that's maybe been in a wreck.
I don't plan on changing out the tranny since it's a relatively light, and I have a very light foot when towing.
Can I get away with replacing the long block plus intake? Or is there more that would have to be changed?
Basically, how similar is everything surrounding these engines?
I would have the donor ECM tuned then just swapped in.
Thanks

Well a 2014+ motor would never work.
So you are still looking for a 10-13 motor for a good motor.
I also don't think you can segment swap the GEN 4 computers to accept the 4L60e. You'll have to tune the 4.8 computer for the 6.2 motor.

Too easy. Also, in regards to the AFM. From looking around online, it appears that there are a bunch of engines in these trucks that have the hardware for it, but they don't have the software to support it. So if the new engine has it, it shouldn't be an issue (since my ECU doesn't support it

If it were me id get the valley cover and delete it but if youre just planning on swapping in a complete 6.2 with no cam swap then yeah just run it 4.8 have vvt and no afm in theory should be a drop in swap.... Highly recommend a tune though

Yeah. I'm definitely having a tune done. No question about it

If the motor came from a silverado/sierra it shouldn't have DoD but if it came from a yukon denali or an escalde? from like 2010-11+ it would have the DoD/AFM stuff inside it along with VVT.
