2007 Tahoe Catback options
#1
Hi folks,
I just picked up a low mile 2007 Tahoe LT with the 5.3
Looking for catback exhaust for the truck and did a ton of research.
Criteria:
- No drone at cruise
- Nice idle and WOT
- Suitable for young kids and wife (I have 3 little ones)
- Stainless steel (I live in Canada)
I'm considering the TVS 1900 and a catback as mods. (Might do the corvette servo in the trans as well)
So far the Gibson and the Corsa look like the best choices.
Thoughts and advice appreciated, thanks in advance!

I have a 2007 Tahoe also and have the Borla catback on it (part # 140193) It's been on for almost 100,000 miles now and hasn't been touched since installation. After owning several Borla systems I wouldn't buy anything else. Everything is very high quality, and they size their tubing correctly for the vehicle its installed on (to keep exhaust velocity up at lower speeds), something very important in a heavy vehicle meant for hauling.
I also have three kids so I understand your needs. When I first installed it, it wasnt much louder than stock, but after several thousand miles it started to open up and is perfect now. Idle sounds nice and throaty without getting obnoxious, and there isnt any drone at highway speeds.
With a vehicle like ours where the cab extends all the way back, muffler and system design becomes very important because you will notice even small changes in sound/drone since the system is under all your occupants where as a truck has the bed over the muffler/tailpipe.
The system isn't cheap, but its worth every penny. Borla uses 304 stainless to manufacture their catbacks. Its also the best looking catback for the 07+ tahoes Imo. Hope this helps.

If you just want the Borla touring muffler here it is Borla Touring 19131346 Under $100! Retail on the catback is over $800! this muffler fits the factory exhaust pipe 2.75" , wont fit some trucks that have the duel exit factory muffler....but with a $10 turn down for you local auto parts store you can have a custom exhaust DIY style for about $100...

Like was said above, the Borla changes tone over time. When I put my Borla muffler on, it was perfect, quiet at idle, low rumble around town, and loud at WOT. After about 30k miles, it was loud ALL of the time. Talked to a few muffler experts, they said this is normal with Borla's as the insides burn out over time and get louder.
I would go with Corsa, personally, if you want a full catback. I welded in a $100 Magnaflow in place of the stock muffler because I don't feel like there is much to be gained with a full cat-back IMHO.
