Lots of better options out there for cams if you ask me. Won't be a serious bump in power in a truck motor that does not rev nearly as high or have the same displacement.

With all the other AFM/DoD delete parts you already have to buy, find a better 212/218 cam that would better suit that engine.

It’s a lot of time spent for a little gain. Even if the cam was free

It will be worth your time, there are better cams out there but the LS2 is a solid performer and you can use oe LS6 springs, and you get a nice smooth idle...should see 30 HP gain with minor loss of low end...delete the AFM and throw in some new lifters and LS6 springs, worth a weekend of work imo

i remember reading in hotrod they did a ls7 cam in a 5.3, if i remember right it lost torque down low under 3k but made like 420/390 on a engine dyno and like 15hp more with 1.8 rockers

might research that cam?

That hotrod article also used a Crane Cam grind that outperformed the others torque wise down low. I think it was the 1449511 which is 206-214 .500-.500 114.

The L9H cam is 198-209 .500-.500 115
The LY6/L96 cam is 196-208 .467-.479 116

Your stock camshaft is 193-193 .482-.482 116 - same as Gen III L33.
2010 and later with VVT used a different grind.

Default Cam

That L9H cam is a 6.2 VVT. any idea what
a 2010+ LH9 5.3 VVT cam is ? I'm
wondering how close it is to the L33 cam.

Gen IV non VVT engines can run VVT cams, the only difference is an oiling groove on one of the journals.

The LH9s cam is 191-190 .457-.466 114. I have seen the duration numbers swapped quite often, same for lift but Brian Nutter at Summit Racing figures this is probably the most accurate. This grind is used on many Gen III and Gen IV engines. The L33 made about 10 more horsepower and 15 ft pounds more torque.

Removing all the bs and making it as simple as possible will garner the most gains. A tsp stg2 hi lift truck cam would gain you well more than that ls2 cam or any stock cam.
Do it once and do it right i say!
