Default 2007 Chevy Avalanche 5.3L DOD/AFM Delete

I saw the delete kit offered at Texas Speed. Is this something that I can tackle in my garage with a buddy or should I pay to have a shop do it? I also want to change my cam for better power when towing.

Installing the parts isn't that bad, very simple engines to work on. You may be able to price out the parts you need for cheaper than some of the kits.

You'll need to tune it straight away though, it's not going to run right at all if you remove the AFm/DoD stuff and don't turn it off in the PCM.

The AFM Delete isnt all that difficult and can be done in the garage over the weekend. The kit will come with everything you will need to pull the AFM.

As far as the cam goes. I would run the 212/218 stage 2 truck cam kit.

Tuning will be required, but that cam will run very well and will bring in around 55 HP to the flywheel.

Since I'm going to be in Texas, I figured one stop shop would be the best ya know. Keeps things simplier for me.

That's what I figured. I don't like putting together something with 20 pieces from all over. One stop shop is the name of my game.

I just thought about something. I can send my PCM in and have the AFM/DOD deactivated prior to installing any parts. Will this hurt anything?

Could you, yes but that would only be about 1/10th of the steps needed in the tuning process.

If you just needed to do that to get you up and running, that would be fine. Then either have a tuner come to you or trailer it somewhere. Though a pretty mild cam should let you drive it, it just won't idle real well and might stall when you come to a stop.

Oh okay. I've read online about people using the Diablosport Intune or the Range Technologies device to just turn off the AFM without any issues.

Here's my plan so that we're all on the same page. I want to remove/delete AFM/DOD. I want to have my Avy run better and pull better for towing my camper. Lastly I want to finish off with a Trick Performance Stage 1 Turbo Kit. This isn't my DD but when I do use it I want to be happy with the performance of it while using it.
