It must be customed tuned, there is no other way around this.

The diablow tuners are junk, don't even think about buying one. A tune done by a person or shop will be the one to disable all the DOD/AFM features as well as tuning the vehicle as needed.

If you want more power and for it drive like it does stock, you can install all those parts but it must have a custom tune done to it. Tons of parameters need to be adjusted. You are changing airflow into the motor at every given second it is running so all the stock calibration numbers are going to be wrong. Everything from the MAF curve, VVE, idle airflow, spark timing, full throttle fueling all have to be touched to make it run right.

Since I'm going to be in Texas, I'm going to get parts from Texas Speed install them and then find a reliable tuner to tune it.

Spoke to my local Chevy performance shop today. They can do my AFM/DOD disable and full tune for 630.00.

Dang, that's like stealing from the poor with that price.

Are both deals cheaper elsewhere?

Not sure what you're asking.

If that $630 was for install and a tune, that's a good deal but if $630 is just for a tune, then that's pretty crazy to pay that price. Any tune would include the AFM/DoD disable, it's one click of the mouse in HP Tuners to disable that feature.

So he stated it's 200.00 just to disable it in the ecu and it 630.00 to disable it in the ecu and do dyno tuning.

This is just my opinion but that just seems way too high for tuning a simple cam shaft swap. Seems most people pay these high prices and the car is done in less than 2 hours, which is way too fast to do a full tune the correct way.

Perhaps shop around more, see if anyone around you offers tuning that isn't a shop.

That's not even swapping a cam. All their doing is turning it off in the ecu.

I know that already, I can read.

I'm fully aware that it would cost you $200 just to disable the DoD/AFM feature and 4$630 to dyno tune the vehicle. I've already said I understand that. My point is that that price seems too high for just tuning a cam swap setup and that you search around for a better deal.

Regardless, if you wish to swap cams to a larger camshaft and remove the DoD/AFM system it's going to need a custom tune done via the street or on a dyno.
