2005 Duramax Vs 2005 2500 Gas

I've seen a short bed regular cab diesel silverado driving around in Fort Bragg, but it was the army version one, camouflage, no radio, troop carrier, black out lights, winch, etc. it looked awesome.

Stock vs. stock diesel wins. I've had both 2001 HD with 6.0L and now have a 04 diesel. Given you leave with boost diesel tq will give you the edge but in a surprise the gasser can jump out ahead. I have a edge in my truck now and with a lift and 35 inch tall tires I'm able to run away from my dad's stock 03 6.0 at will. I mean it's not a race that's how good some of these boxes are.

with a programmer and exhaust in the diesel you should be in the 14s because of all the extra weight......you will need more mods to get it in the 12s and you trans will need to be modded and upgraded to handle the extra tq......look to spend $8k to $10k to get in the 12s because of the extra mods and trans upgrade.....it's easy to do but you will need to lay the cash out.....

from personal experience, the duramax will hand the 6.0 it's *** stock for stock. on a boosted up launch the max is ahead the whole run and off idle for both they are close for about the first 30 feet. from there out it's cubes and boost all the way. now the 8.1, that's a different race.
btw, i work for a chevy dealer. (not that we would have tried this)...
