Default 2001 chevy 4.8 truck not starting

Ok the battery had corrosion on the cables, cleaned it up but still will not turn over. I got lights and alarms on inside cab. When key is turned nothing happens, tried putting in neutral to start also nothing. Did not check voltage on battery, but checked fuses and also fine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

when you turn the key are you hearing any clicking noises? most likely a bad starter or starter relay. make sure you have a good charge on the battery.

Do you get the gear indicator if you move the selector? If not, might be a PCM issue.

nothing happens, no click i was hopping wasnt a pcm issue. I checked all basic things like you would on a older car and nothing. What about keys is there a security system on them if key or ignition switch is worn.

Check the battery- both voltage and conections! at a low current draw, a poor connection can still supply enough amprage, but when you demand a high load (starting it) from it, a poor conection wont send the current. before you rip the truck apart , check and recheck the battery.

yes i did get the gear shift lever. i think its the battery connection also just cant find were it is bad and its intermediate so after a little messing around it starts. so we have a optima battery and am thinking of switching from the screw in connections(that are no good) to a more possitive connection on top with the posts.
Thank you for every ones help

I have see some trucks that didnt properly engage the neutral safety switch. As funny as it sounds take it out of park and try put it back into park aggressively. No joke Ive seen it work.

However you may have a PCM issue...

keep in mind that corrosion is like cancer, so, it's probably INSIDE the cable too.

my buddy had a similar problem in his car. accessories would work, but nothing happened when he turned the key. turned out he blew a main fuse. swapped it out and it started up no problem. might not be your problem, but worth checking.
