Default 2000 6.0L Cutout

New member to the forum here. I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4. It has a stock 6.0l LQ4 and the factory dual exhaust (looks like 3") back to a single muffler. I would like to add a cutout just before the muffler, but I am not sure what the best way to go about it is. I enjoy a loud truck, but only in specific situations. Otherwise I have no issues with the factory exhaust.

Could I use a y-pipe to combine the two pipes just before the muffler, add a single cutout, and a single inlet/single outlet muffler like the one off of a 5.3l truck? Will this flow enough for a stock motor that very rarely sees over 4k rpms?

just order two small y's and two cutouts and your set, did the same setup on the ss.
