Ok so basicly get 3000 TQ Converter, Port and Polish, springs, retainers, push rods and a 212/218 high rise cam? Nothing else i need to worry about? I will be doing the N20 at a later time. Should i worry about the LT's now. I have the JBA shorties.
I would also need to get rid of the power programmer and get a custom tune correct?
With 4.10 gears what top speed am i looking at about?

Thanks for the help....

Top speed? Who cares, throw a frisbee and then throw a brick. Your truck is the brick. They just don't do top speed, especially at stock height or a mild drop. But with cam and head work probably 130-140mph. I would definately run a bigger cam, I am going to install the Thunder Racing 220/220 on a 112 lsa. They have their kits that include cam, springs, and pushrods on sale for like $549 only through tomorrow May 29. Pretty good deal and it will make more than 45 at the wheels for sure. Get a Nelson Performance tune and his fan harness and buy a set of LS1 fans. I would personally ditch the shorties since they really don't do much for these trucks and buy a set of Pacesetter LT's, someone posted dyno results and they gained like 25 rw just on the headers.

I'd hold off on the headwork until you get the cam/converter/fans/LT's and see where you stand. You might also consider doing a 2/4 drop so you can still use the truck as a truck but be a bit more aerodynamic. And ditch the 20's when you go to the track, they are worth several tenths.

Thanks for the help. I want to do it right the first time. Sounds like a good deal on the cam I just might order it tonight. I was just wondering about top speed with the 4.10 gears not that I care. it used to go 128 before i put the 4.10's in and i haven't pushed it past about 115 - 120. If there are anyother suggestions please let me know.

I'd personally reccomend the tr 224 cam for what you're intent upon but that's just my $.02

I just asked another board member about gas mileage and he has a single cab 5.3L with the TR 220/112 and he said he was averaging 14.5 mpg city and about 19 on highway doing 75 with ac on during a roadtrip. Your gas mileage will suffer slightly.

There are some dyno graphs on their website after each cam description:
Thunder Racing

i pretty much have the same truck as you and the mods i have and am planning on doing are in my sig but i would say go bigger than 212/218. after you run that cam for a few months you will regret not going bigger in the first place.

cam i would go with the high lift 212/218 r 216/220 r tr220 on a 114
heads they have a few good ones contact sponsor and do a search
verter i like ptc they will not breake u'r pocket and work real good made to u'r specs
pulleys asp
e-fans any ls1 r lt1 impala fan also work good
push rods don't really need but if u r going to do heads i would go ahead and fix it and forget it
spring i use 918 on everything less than 600 lift
t/t retainers not a have to have but like push rods they may come with the heads depending on witch ones u get
tires m/t drag tires the new type work good i pulled 1.64 60' with them

So you think I should go with the tr 220 cam and 918 springs correct? Should i get new heads or work on the stock heads? which cam should i look at. tr220 - 114 or tr220 - 112? Comp Cams LS1 Camshaft - 206 / 212 .515 / .522 112 LSA 800-5800 RPM Power Band. Comp Cams LS1 Camshaft - 212 / 218 .522 / .529 114 LSA 1200-6000 RPM Power Band. LS1 Hot Cam Kit - 218/227 .525/.525 112 LSA Complete Kit includes LS1 Hot Cam, valve springs and retainers. Should i get new gaskets and retainers when i order the cam. TR offers the gaskets and retainers as an add-on.

Thanks for the help.
