Default 2 1/2 years of knowledge.

I have learned alot since buying my 2002 truck. I am bored and thought I would share.

5.3 Hypertech, ASM headers, LS6 cam, ported stock heads, Vig 3000, and 4.10s=
312rwhp and 310rwtq
Max rpm:6250
5.3 Hypertech, ASM headers, K&N, LS6 heads, 212/218, Vig 3200, 20in wheels, and 4.10s=
330rwhp and 325rwtq
Max rpm:6200
6.0 half-*** tune, 212/218, stock heads, 20in wheels, with boltons above=
350rwhp and 351rwtq
Max rpm: 6000
6.0 ATI @ 8lbs, fat tune, 212/218, with above boltons=
475rwhp and 438rwtq
Max rpm: 6200
6.0 ATI @ 11lbs, better tune, 212/218, with above boltons=
499rwhp and 509rwtq
Max rpm: 6200
5.7 9.2:1, 216/220, ported LS1 heads, nitrous tune, with above boltons=
349rwhp and 362rwtq
449rwhp and 550rwtq on bottle
Max rpm: 6000
6.7 10.5, 230/230@112, ported 6.0 heads, with above boltons=
408rwhp and 436rwtq
580rwhp and 677rwtq
Max rpm: 5800

I have learned that the greatest motor ever made for our trucks is a 6.0, BAR NONE.
Short of a blower or juice, the greatest modification done to a truck is a stall converter, it makes the most difference.
I have learned from that a ATI makes great power and is prefect until you get over 500rwhp, then belts become a problem.
I have learned that a LS6 cam adds an average of 35rwhp to a stock 5.3 with a perfect idle and street manners. The LS6 cam also needs a stall converter, shift it at 6200 N/A and 5800 on juice. It will keep pulling beyond 6200 but, no gain is seen.
A 125shot is safe on a stock fuel pump with a 5.3 making 330rwhp. 150 is not and will burn spark plugs and exhaust valves.
I have learned that you do not build a motor for boost and expect it to make good power N/A.
I have learned that a stock fuel line will feed a single nozzle but, not a fogger. This will cause a huge lean spike.
I am in the process of learning that a truck intake and a 408 make good torque but no real HP on top.
I have learned that the spacer plate on a 4L60 needs to be drilled, a Vette servo installed, turn the Pressure Control Solenoid a 1/4 to 1/2 turn, and 4L65 guts to live any length of time. Do not make it shift hard but, firm.
I have learned that the bigger rear brake rotors, pads, and calipers off of a Suburban will fit on a truck.
It is alot easier to do a burnout with the ABS fuse pulled.
I have learned that Auburn makes the best limited slip diffs for a 8.5.
I have learned that juice will out run a blower, making close to the same HP. At least in trucks.
I have learned that bottle pressure is always too low in the winter and too high in the summer.
I have learned that Lightning owners love to pick on Chevrolets and get speechless when beaten.
I have learned that traction and not power is what wins races.

This is the knowledge I pass on to you. I have more but, this should get you started thinking.

I think you can go more then 125, more needs to be added and more car of ignition timing needs to be takin. As far as a fogger not the stock fuel lines that hurt but rather a lot of things added up. To make a fogger work correctly a lot has to be considered. pump, lines, regulator, lead line on the n20 noid can stop a lean spike too.

Also I like the LS6 cam in the 5.3's too. Works great. I was going to do that to the g/f's truck if she gets that 5.3 truck from gauge. 5.3l Z71 package w/ 4.10's and a locker. Zippy shift with a I5 converter maybe (thats right got you guys thinking there not a trailblazer converter, somethin a little looser, just don't know how long it will ahng on. there is a possibility of testing that with 700+hp this next season) I would like to do long tubes and a big shot of n20, cause 6.0's are cheap.

Very cool post!! Guess I will have to go for the 6.0. Everyone seems to agree that it is the best mod bar none. One quick question for you guys. Do you need a lift to do motor swap?? Is it that much more difficult without one??

True, true. I don't like it, but it's true
