youre guage is reading correct. its actually reading the head temps. i wonderd this when i did my swap a year ago. got a temp gun and shot it on the head then on coolant lines and rad. rad and lines read low like they should, the head read what the gauge read. just think of that

I didn't really believe the stock guage but this weekend got I got the Aerospace Interceptor guages installed and it shows 195 consistently. Hence this thread. I also read today, in Chevy High Performance, that the direction of the flow and the opening of the stat tend to fight each other and that a balanced sleeve stat and a Milodon high flow pump would be desireable.

yep cause the truck is still in closed loop and wont operate properly and is running rich..rich is poor mpg thats why they lean out the motor at crusing to help with mpg

160* stat and runs at 175*-180*. I have Flexalite electric fans and a Mezierre electric waterpump. It helps keep the supercharged intake cooler and has less parasytic hp loss. No problem with the heater getting hot. I have heard you get less hp with a colder engine. Stock cars run at 235*+, it's supposed to add 5hp.

If you are still going FI, 160 is for you.
