Default 160 degree stat??

Hi,
Im wondering if $47.00 is a good price for a HyperTech stat.

Also, will any 160 degree stat work with the HPPIII?

Ive read of problems with a 160 stat and am wondering if any of you could give me some imput on this. Is it only a problem with folks up North where its already cool?

Its friggin hot here in TX!

Should i go with a 180 degree?

Thanks.

That's as good of a price that I have seen. I have had mine in for almost 2 yeas and tow a lot too. No problems ith it. As far as any 160* stat, yes anyone will work with the HPP III. Basically, you just telling the computer the truth to what you have, there are no electronics hooked up to the t-stat directly. There is a semi free mod avaliable that utilizes a BB, but I don't know much about it because I already had mine when it started coming out.

I just did the 160* free mod w/ the BB and it works just as good as the 47 dollar one. If you live in Houston and need help I will help ya out doin it sometime. I'd save the 47 bucks and do the mod using the BB, mine runs a lot cooler and when I get hypertech this weekend I know I will get some gains from it.

thats a pretty good price, i think i paid close to $60. this may sound kinda weird but i couldn't lay a scratch until i did the thermostat. at the time i had airaide intake, headers/exhaust, and hpp III. with all that i couldn't lay a scratch but after the thermostat i would practically lay a scratch half way down the track. i have a stock posi but i also had stock tires. i just got different tires to fix the problem. definetly buy it!!!!

I did the free mod and it works. Trying to reassemble the t-stat was kinda a bitch, you need like three hands, but it is a pretty easy mod. I got cautious at the last minute and reduced the size of my "shim" and got about a 185 instead of the 170 I was shooting for. Guess I'll just have to add more shim when I get a spare hour or so.

Here is a link to a good article on the T-Stat mod T-Stat Mod
