There are 2002 2500HD's on lots.

Chevy is still making the "regular" 2500 also, but only in two configurations:
Regular cab longbed 2wd
Extended cab shortbed 4x4
They stopped making the reg-cab LB 4x4 & ext-cab SB/LB 2wd's, (I don't know why).

The 1500HD didn't replace anything. It uses the same style frame, suspension & drivetrain as the 2500 though.

Now your truck has some beefier parts compared to the 2500/1500HD. You have a:
Bigger frame
10.5" full-floater rear
Stronger transfer case
I think the front diff is the same on all 6.0 trucks.
More leaf springs & stouter torsion bars (one-ton)
Big hood/grill/bumper.

We are a dealer yes they are going to make then this year.My demo will be a black 2500Hd 4x4 with 6.0.We have driven both trucks the HD is the better truck.We sell 10 HD2500 for every 1 1500hd sold.

I have an '02 1500HD Crew Cab and was wondering the same thing. I have 8-lug wheels, which I hope means that I have the bigger 3/4 ton brakes to go with them. I know that the 3/4's only get 4:10 diffs and the 1500HD's have the choice of 3.73 or 4.10. My diff cover has 14 bolts.

This thing rides REALLY rough, so I suspect the spring rates are close or the same as the 3/4's.

Other than that, and the hood & grill, I don't know of any other differences. I would like to compare them side-by-side.

I was told that chevy does not make a 2500 HD this year.. Not sure if this info is correct or not but Also heard the 1500 HD replaced it..

I was wondering what are the suspension and driveline differences between the two?? Is the tranny,rear axles, front axles the same ,etc.etc?

Thats funny Neil <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> Actually, I don`t know what kind of guy it was..He has a 98 Ls1 11 sec. camaro,(15.98ET) 2001 Dodge truck and a 10 second 89 LX mustang..He is also the father of the maroon mustang my truck beat on video a few weeks ago..haha I guess that answers the question.. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

Maybe I went brain dead for a minute but Chevy does offer both according to their web site.
