Yep. You will most likely need a new serpentine belt that's a little longer. Some people have gotten their stockers on, but mine wouldn't fit.

Thanks rosscob and V8. So beside a new serpentine belt it will be plug and play? (Bolt it on, put belt on, plug it in and go) yes or no.

Sure hope that it fits a 99 Silverado 5.3...just got a deal on one on ebay, and ordered the belt from GMPartsDirect. Someone told me that the mounting points are different and you have to change the bracket, but I'm pretty sure that this is the same alternator that creederado bolted directly in to his 99 5.3. I'm also hoping this will be the final link in my blinking battery light repair, as running the wire from the alt to pin 52 of the red PCM connector didn't do it for me.

Did you buy yours Monday at 5:30 off ebay for $ 100.00? If so I was pissed! I missed it less than 30 seconds. I got luck though because the same guy put another one on there this morning and I got it for $ 100.00 shipped.
How much did you pay for the belt? Did you get the one that goes on an OEM denali. Do you have the part #?
I am going to put it on this weekend if I get it in time. Write back to let us know if it fits. I will do the same if I get mine on first.

Got mine Saturday (well, past midnight, so technically Sunday)....probably the same guy...$100 shipped. Does this look familiar?:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7961103822

Here's the info on the belt from GMPartsDirect.com:

Part: 12576451
Unit Price: $27.23
SHIPPING: $7.95
TAX: $0.00
TOTAL WITH TAXES: $35.18

Unfortunately, I'm gonna be away this weekend, so I won't get a chance to work on the truck if the alternator arrives...leaving Thursday night. (unless of course the alternator shows up tomorrow...then that's a whole new story )
