14.491 & 93 mph, this bad?
#1
I ran a 14.491 the other night at the track with a 2.20 60' at about 70 degrees outside. I have the Radix intercooled kit for the 5.3. I have spoken to a few people who say that is good for an Extended cab with no mods other than the exhaust and blower. I am still concerned with the high intake air temps (up to about 160 at the end of the run) and some coffee grinder noise from the blower.
Anyone with similar mods on a similar truck have any input?
I am thinking about fabricating a 17" x 22" radiator in the front for the a different heat exchanger. A friend at a local auto-parts store suggested it, and I think it would work to decrease IAT. He can get me the radiator (all aluminum) for 200 bucks.

I dont think that sounds right at all. You can get an idea of where you should be from the fastest truck list. Candy with the 01 Tahoe has mild cam and headwork, 3000 stall, and exhaust and ran a 14.55.
The Tahoe is heavier than your truck although Im not sure by how much.
Whitt has a Tahoe and with the Radix and 3000 stall ran a 13.2!!!
I would think that with your mods you should be in the high 13's. I could be wrong though. My supercharger is sitting on my garage floor and no one else near me has a blown truck (other than a couple Lightnings).

That mph shows that your horsepower is down. What elevation are you at? At sea level, I'd think you should be in the 99-100 range.
I think a bigger heat exchanger is always a good idea, but you need to find out whats causing the problem also.
Seems like Blownchevy sells an upgraded one. That might be easier to just bolt right in.

I have a 2000 ECSB with just a HPPIII, Yank TT3000, exhaust, and intake and have been 14.57. Even without the converter it ran 14.98. I would expect you to run at least .5 faster, or anywhere in the 13's.

He said a 2.2 60' so can't be too much. I can cut times like that N/A in my slow *** box.
Hell maybe the tranny is slipping...
But those IAT's are showing hot air is getting into the intake only meaning the intercooler isn't cooling to me. Empty, not pumping, etc
Get a log of timing numbers and **** too.
