Default 1/4mi results in, how do they fair though?

Well folks, Street Car Chaos was friday night and after a long cold night i decided the below times were as fast as the truck was gonna get, so i decided to head home upset that it didn't run a mid 15 as ive seen alot of other stock or near stock 4.8L's have gone.

Air Temp: 63*F, Track Temp=???, 663ft Above Sea Level

R/T=.696
60FT=2.382
330ft=6.766
1/8th=9.736
1000FT=13.472

1/4ET=16.088
1/4 Trap=85.109MPH

Things done to the truck:

Stock muffler cut off and patch pipe welded in, Throttle Body Bypass, pulled the headlight out, top of the airbox and filter and just ran the MAF screen through the headlight.

Spare tire, jack, seats, everything from the factory was left on.

The headlight/airbox knocked off a full tenth of a second, i just let the truck run for 10minutes to get it adjusted to not having an airbox on.

The truck has a 4.8L, 3.42 one leg wonder, 173,XXXmiles (original drivetrain), reg cab shortbed, 2x4.

So were my posted times acceptable? I lost to a 1 ton dually 7.4L powerstroke by about 1 1/2 cars everytime we raced (about 7 times) and he had everything banks on his truck (he said over $5000 worth of mods).

Please lemme know,

Dave

also, i have heard that 99 silverado's had sh*tty tuning from the factory and that if i swap PCM's to an 01-02 with the 4.8L tuning, it should run a mid to low 15 1/4....is this true?

Your 1/4 mile ET is really slow compared to your 1/8 mile ET. Based on your 330 ft and 1/8 mile ET, your 1/4 mile ET should have been about 15.0 @ 90 MPH. You either lost power at the top end of the track or you had some head wind, etc. Yes, '99 tuning is bad compared to newer models. I suggest swapping your PCM for an '02.

much easier to just reprogram. why would you bother swapping pcm's just to go back to another stock tune?

Alot of people on GMFS said that the trap speed doesn't matter since i have a lower gear,

thats where i think i lost ALOT of time, the 1-2 shift stays around 3500 when at WOT, the 2-3 shift however drops down to 2000 or so and kills me, or i think this is the problem?

Also on the PCM swap,
1. where would i go to get an 01-02 PCM, and is it just swap it in and go?
2. to reprogram could i just send it to nelson tuning, have him reprogram it and do his "tuning" all at the same time so i see better improvements all around?

Thanks for the help and whatnot, and yes a TNT Nitrous system (100 wet shot) is on the way for the lil 4.8L that could lol, along with an auburn posi unit and the M/T Drag Radials.

I agree. When I ran my truck I ran a 9.895 to the 1/8 and hit a 15.101 @ 94.09mph so your truck is really losing power on the top end. BTW, thats a good time with a 4.8 EC though.

its a regular cab, if its not a reg cab shortbed, i refuse to buy it...main reason i sold my 97 ext cab shortbed 2 weeks after i bought it and got this.

so would the 2-3 shift be my problem as far as trap speed and e/t go since it shifts so low?

as far as a nelson tune goes, what would the ideal shift point be for the 2-3 shift? The truck is daily driven, and a cruiser, but my main goal, is for a mid-low 13 by next year and i'd be fairly happy
