The bigger the cam the less low end the more top end... get a small cam and u won't need a converter. Ex. 212/218. But let's say u want more top end and u go with a222/ 226 cam then ull b loosing low end and ur heavy truck will b a pig out the hole that's where a 3600 converter will put u back on the power band of that cam..

oh.....so if I run a ls6 cam, i dont really need a converter, because its a small cam?

Correct but do u wanna spend all that labor and time for the small gains of a cam that small?
