Default 05 Duramax exhaust probs..help?

Just lookin for some help with brainstorming. We have a 'troubled' 05 Duramax 2500 here that we installed a downpipe and 4" exhaust and it would set off a SES EGR code. We then tried just doing a cat back and the code reappeared. Then we went back to stock exhaust and the code wont come back on. This is the 1st 05 weve had issues with...kinda lookin for your ideas

It is throwing codes because the aftermarket exhaust does not have enough backpressure for the EGR to function. On the LLY, the Federal emissions trucks (FE9) set the codes but it won't illuminate the SES light. Any other emissions designation (RPO Codes: NE1, YF5, or VCL, just look at the glovebox tag) will fire the SES light.

Go to dieselplace.com, search for finger sticks and you will find the solution to the problem. The finger stick modifies the MAF signal to get rid of the SES. You may want to block off the EGR too as EGR is bad JuJu for any diesel.

Of course this is for all off-road use only.
