I tried to put a hypertech 180 in an o4 the other day, they are different than previous years, they drop in to the housing rather than being enclosed and they don't fit on 04. not aware of a proper fit replacement yet.

Well, that is pretty interesting. I didn't know GM changed the thermostats for '04.

I installed a 180° housing & thermostat combo. for the earlier model with some minor mods to the water pump housing with a small carbide grinder while still on truck. It works fine, I've hade it on for 8000 miles.

Sounds like GM - noticed issues with the tstat
Wonder if you will be able to swap 04's to 03's and earlier ??

That's cool but are we going to be able to use a 160 without a custom tune, 2004 http no setting for changed stat, although they recommend you use a 180, must be within acceptable range for the oe computer.

I ordered one too. My PCM is tuned for a 160 stat from nelson.
