yeah what whistlin said not much more expensive for the huge horsepower increase because there is only like a 10 horsepower difference in the older ones and i believe the 04 are coming with like an additional 10 is that not right but the 6.0 give you like i thought it was 40 hp more so i say do that IMO 6.0

How much are you getting that 5.3? For a little more I am sure you can get a used LQ4 in there.

i am in line to tell you just to hold out and do the 6.0. if you ever decide to do forced induction then you will have a better stepping stone.

i say also to go with a 6.0-as far as price im sure you could pick one up pretty cheap. WHat are you getting the 5.3 for?? Just save a lil more up and hold off till you can get 6.0.

The 5.3 is similar in size to the old 327 which should provide a lot of fun with a regular cab/shortbed truck. That's kinda where I'm headed with mine, I think. I saw an e-bay auction for an aluminum 5.3L shortblock from an SSR with a buy-it-now price of $695. A cam and some slightly worked heads and that would be a pretty inexpensive way to grab some more displacement!
