Default 02' Silverado Q's....

I am thinking of trading in my S10 this fall. I really want a full size truck. I'm just wondering what I should expect to pay for one. The people I have talked to seem to be paying a lot more than I think their trucks are worth. I have excellent credit and should be able to get a good finance rate, (I have a 3.9% rate on my S10 currently).

I want a Reg. Cab, SWB, Fleetside Truck with 5.3L auto, PW & PL's, CD player, & a posi. Cruise would be nice too.

I'm hoping to score a truck like that for $350 a month or less. My S10 will be my trade in, it's V6, auto, ZQ8 susp., 3.42 posi, CD player, buckets & console, 9700 miles. By the fall I won't owe any more that $7000 on it.

Am I dreaming by only wanting to pay $350 a month or less? Or is this a possibility? Thanks in advance for the help everyone.

Yes, 180 HP 4.3L V6. It runs good, but a stock 5.3L will walk all over my mildly modded 4.3L I'm partial to V8's anyhow. My old S10 was a 2000 LS, 4.3L auto, w/ 3.42 posi. I got a 15.683 out of it NA, and 14.40's on a 75HP wet kit.

I have the same mods on my 2001, CAI, and free mods, nothing else - it should run about the same NA. I want an 02' 5.3L truck becasue they run a second faster stock vs. stock, and can tow a heavier load. I may find it nessecary to tow my Camaro from time to time & I know the S10 isn't up to the task. I graduated college in Feb. of this year and have started to pay down my bills, it's time for a better truck now.

Maxboom i like the way you think...lol I did a s-10 ss in the early 90's that would run mid to low 14's on motor and 13-20's on the gas we had so much fun with that truck and won so much money cause any body will give you all the links you want in a race cause its a little six. Make your yrly income in a couple of months racing that beast...lol

I am too paranoid about popping a motor in my daily driver to spray this truck, motor swap is out.....only 9700 miles on this truck.

I really feel a new Silverado w/ the 5.3L is my best bet to have a strong running truck that is reliable. I am not looking for a race truck....but when you have an 11 second car - you'd at least like high 14's from your daily transportation.

your gonna need to put a hefty down payment in order to get your payments that low. i got my truck back in '99 and i have almost everything (leather, trailer pkg, posi, ect.) i paid $23K for mine. however i do have an extended cab but i put a little over $8000 down and my payments were $405 for 60 months w/ 6.8%. a couple years later i priced another truck but single cab and it was like $22K with almost everything (not including leather). anyways just letting you know what your gonna be faced with.

the things you need to make sure you get is (posi, trailer pkg, 5.3, and 3.73) also (pw, pl, cruise, cd) do not get tint.

but don't base your decision on what i say, get what YOU want.........

I guess everything is more expensive in California. My truck's sticker price was 26,000.
2001 SCSB GMC
5.3 AT
2WD
Tow Package
3:73 locking rear differential
I guess everything but leather and 4WD....

I only paid 22,000 because of my work's GM supplier program discount. But it looks like that's regular price to you guys.

I also saw a post where someone said you can buy a Lightning for 29,000 in Texas. In California some people pay up to 35 or 36k....

Looks like I'll have to go truck shopping in Texas when the SS comes out. (like that's going to happen soon)

When I bought my 01 Sierra RC SLE, it stickered for 26.4K and I paid 23K with a $515 note for 5 yrs. I since wrecked it and just bought my 02 Sierra RC SLE for 19K, which stickered for 24.8K...note of $430 for 5 yrs (no down payment on either one.)The only thing it didn't come with that my 01 did was tow pkg and rims, and I took off the hitch and sold it anyways. I also just bought rims for the new one.
