Default 01 and 02 tunning

If I have hp tuners for 02 model pickups and since 01 models have the same service number on the computer, By flashing the 01 computer to a 02 vin would I be able to tune it ?

unless you have an 01 enabled on the cable it will not let you read or rewrite it.

If I have a buddy at the local dealership flash it, will it work then?

i think hp tuners also communicates with the bcm as well. i had a buddy with a 99 that had an 02 pcm and it would not let me read it
