But you will gain mpg with egr. Best thing for the engine HELL no, with all that crap in the intake.... BUT

While the EGR is actually working as the exhaust actually takes up cylinder space, meaning less fuel/air required. It also means the throttle has to be opened further due to the now EGR active smaller engine, So you will use less energy to maintain vacuum in the manifold. The exhaust gas also reduces combustion heat.

EGR for performance? not unless you define performance by mpg. Also G.M opted to drop the EGR system, so is it really that beneficial?

The GEN4 motors do not use EGR because they can pass emission standards without it. Changes in cam profiles, cylinder heads, throttlebody and intake manifold design has made the engine more efficient. More valve overlap provides the same effect as an EGR valve.

EGR was dropped on the GEN3 engines as well...

I am hoping that the tune can compensate (somewhat) for the lost fuel efficiency. I would rather have it run cleaner than have better mpg.

If it gets to be too much, I can always turn it back on and re-install it.

I found the GM pn for the block off plate for under $20 shipped, this will save me a trip to the stealer, still looking for the intake manifold plate.

yep. it does this by introducing inert gasses onto the combustion chamber to take up some space so less combustible air will go in, therefore creating a richer condition, cooling the chamber

thanks man, I opted for the freeze plug fix. I'm not a big fan of the "made in India" engraving on the washer but it works for now.

Thanks for that PN, I read a couple posts where there was some debate to whether it was that number that you listed and another one.
