...][ Quesitions About Headers, Cams, and some other things ][...
#1
Hi guys
I would like to mod my 06 Silverado and I need your help guys.
First Headers:
I would like to buy PaceSetter Headers
and I found two kind of headers
Ceramic coated and steel Painted or something like that
I want to know what is the difference between them and which one should I buy
this is the one in my mind:

I want to know also if I need the Y-pipe
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
I already have an Exhaust system.
Second: Cams
I would like to buy a cam, but I don't know anything about Cams
please can someone help me.
I would like to know what should I buy, and if there is things that i need to change in order to install them.
I want something that is good for daily use and something that will not damage my engine.
Part numbers and Links will be very helpful especially from guys who have experince dealing with them.
Third: DiabloSport Predator
I want to know if someone has a DiabloSport tuner for 2006 Models.
I bought two DiabloSport tuners and they didn't work on my truck. I don't know why.
I sent an e-mail to DiabloSport Support Staff explaining the problem and i'm waiting for them to answer.
but I would like to know if anyone had the same problem.
I just want to add that, i have a Diablosport tuner for my 05 sierra and it works fine.
Forth: Pullies and some other stuff
I want to buy somethings that will help me gain some HP.
I'm not sure what to buy.
my friend told me to buy pullies and plug wires
I'm not sure if they are going to help.
So I want you guys to help me.
I only want small things that don't cost a lot and wont harm my engine.
Again >>> Links and Part Numbers will be very helpfull
My truck : 2006, Silverado, Reg. Cab, Manual Transmition, 4.8L, short bed
.
thanks in advance

The ceramic-coated headers will be better than painted steel. The coated headers will last longer and will keep the temperature under the hood lower. In Qatar, that is significant!
Regarding cams, if you decide on a 'mild' cam you probably will not need to change anything else...even your tune. The more aggressive the cam profile, the more likely you are to need new valve-springs and possibly push-rods. Read 'The cam thread' at the top of this forum for more info.
Going with smaller pullys can get you some additional power but your stock plug wires will probably perform as well as aftermarket wires.
Good luck and keep modding!

I agree with Moodoo, First you have to have a goal. ET wise or $money$ wise then you start doing your research to determine your options for your goal, you are on the right track but without us knowing your goal(s) no good help can be given. The combination of performance setups are virtually endless! I recomend you take your time on this because it can be a very expensive process plus EVERYONE has their own personal favorites when it comes to parts/brands so this thread will probably become a warzone from everyones opinions. I recomend that you look at the dyno list and the fastest truck list, this may help you see the setups inwhich people are using to reach their goals.
Good luck

It takes a lot of reading to get a feel for what cam you might want.
Take a look at the cam thread at the top of the list.
You can get an idea of what you might want.
Hirdlej has a 4.8 manual with a 01 ls6 cam and cat back tuned with HPTuners.
He is pretty happy with his setup. PM him and see if you might want to start there.
Those cams can be had very cheap.

I think i will
coz as you said it will keep the temp Lower which is better.
and what about the Y-pipes ?
Do i need one if i already have an exhaust system ?
For cams
I already read that topic, but still didn't understand that much, i will look at it again.
for the pullies, do you have some links for good ones ?
and for the aftermarket wires i looked for some thread and they all said the same thing. i wont wast my money on them
Ok do you have any other suggestions that will help gaining some HP
just to know that i have an exahust sys installed and an intake on my truck.
