well I got $300 to spend on performance items
and im about go have a CAI besides that. what is another good thing? i was thinking headers but i want to do L/T's but i dont think i can get them for a L31 for that price.

Unbolt the trans, slide the old 1 off, slide and twist the new TC on, button up the trans.
If you dont want to do a TC swap becuase of lack of mechanical ability, thats fine, but saying you dont want to do the TC swap because you dont go to the track, doesnt make any sense to me. Why do performance mods at all then???
The reason I install performance parts is to increase performance. Parts that work at the track will work on the street.
A TC and PCM tune could net you 3/4 of a second or more improvement in the 1/4 mile, a K&N GEN 2 netted me less than a tenth. I Ran the stock intake for 1 run, after a 1 hour cooldown while I swapped on the K&N FIPK, I only dropped a coule hundredths. Not worth the money compared to other performance parts IMO.
The TC will give you better stoplight acceleration as well as 400 rpm less rpm drop at the shfts, instead of acceleration bogging after the shifts, the rpms stay 400 rpm higher after a shift and the truck just pulls from gear to gear. Highway fuel economy is unaffected as teh TCC locks in 3rd gear and 4th.
You wont even get close to the performance gains of an L35 TC and wait4meperformance tune with a CAI alone.
That L35 TC is pretty mild, you dont need a seoperate cooler on it, the stock rad/trans cooler is fine. Maybe if you trailer I would install a cooler.
I have shaved over a full second in the 1/4 mile on my truck with boltons alone, I have spent thousands in L31 boltons, take my advice-learn from my expense, I know what works on these engines as far as boltons.

I guess I just dont completely understand what the TC swap would do. Im pretty new to the truck scene. Also, the CAI is coming for christmas. I have $300 besides that.
