Default You guys running Ridetech StrongArms... Wheel Clearance?

I recently installed a full set (upper and lower) Ridetech StrongArms and ran into a wheel clearance issue on the lowers I did not have with the stock LCA. Wheels are 18x9.5 with a 6" backspace. I had to fab an adjustable steering stop to keep the wheels from contacting the LCA at full lock on each side.

Drilled and tapped spindle for a 3/8 bolt with jam nut...

At full lock with stop...

Curious as to what wheel combo (size and backspace) others have with these arms and if there were any clearance issue. Really interested in the 20" setups 10" and wider as I believe that the the route I will have to go to get a wide wheel/tire on this thing now.

I run 20x9 LTZ take offs with 275/40/20's and the tire will rub that same area if you crank the steering over hard. I've never seen or heard anything to indicate the wheel was rubbing anything on mine, otherwise, I would probably have already added the stop like yours...maybe someday.

Also, doesn't the stock lower arm have a pad welded on to it for the spindle to contact to limit steering angle, which should explain why you didn't experience it before?

You are correct, the stock lca does have a small pad adjacent to the ball joint the spindle would contact. With the stock arm the left tire would occasionally contact the swaybar, where there is now about 3/8" clearance when the wheel is on the lca. As visible in the pic below, the stock arm has more of a contour on the front side from the bushing to the ball joint which would allow for more wheel clearance. I wish I had overlaid them and taken a pic. For the price, I feel this is something RT should have engineered into these arms. It is really disheartening that I purchased these arms to make the truck more competitive on the course and can't put a wider wheel/tire than the stock arms.

After some conversations and information sharing with Ridetech, they revised their UCA for more wheel/tire clearance and added double integrated steering stops. I am pretty pleased with the revisions and they provide plenty of clearance for the 20x11 Welds up front. Now I need to work on the swaybar clearance since that is now the contact point. So for any of you planning to run wide wheels with strong arms, these new revised arms provide plenty of clearance.

Very impressed with the packaging...

Comparison with the previous version showing the additional clearance on the forward arm...

Plenty of clearance with LCA now...

Double integrated steering stops...

It was my understanding that all lcas produced going forward would be these so I presume the same part number. I will check the box for a PN when I get home this evening.

Did they at least give you a discount on the new style since you had issues???

You mentioned the sway bar was an issue with clearance. Is the tire rubbing or is the sway bar hitting something?
