Ring and pinion are the same but there are different carriers...

theres one for a 28 splines and 2 30 spline versions... they take different bearings... just make sure you get one that is for a 99- up

Yep,I replaced my G80 when my truck had 30K on it.I came back from Florida and had a noise and it turned out to be the rearend bearings.Replaced all the bearings and it still had a noise.Ripped it out throw it in the scrap and bought a alburn carrier and that been 100K miles ago,G80=JUNK

Same thing happened to you that happened to me, got a transmission that could put the power to the rear and the rear could not handle it any more. At least you didn't take a drive shaft with it. Good luck getting back on the road fast.

RJ, if u have a slipping tranny, it'll slip enough to where the rear would stay safe. I could be wrong on this, but that's what I've heard.

If you looking to put it on a credit card just buy what you want and pay for it as you work it off. Instead of you paying for it on the credit card (once) and it breaking later for you to start from square one again (second time on the credit card). Start looking into beefing up your U joints as well. If you have gone through a trans and rear end the only thing left to break is the drive shaft/u joints.
