Question Will a Camaro 4L60 work?

I have been given a 4L60 core. I haven't seen it yet so I'm not sure if this will work on my truck. its out of a 97 camaro. I've tried to look it up but I'm pulling up different part numbers, I don't know if its just because the bell housing has one less bolt or what. Should this work in my truck?

Tail housing would need to be changed... not sure about other stuff like gear shift indication / neutral safety module or vehicle speed sensor. Hopefully Vince from FLT will chime and clarify

fbody 60 is same....only difference is the shift linkage arm. it will need to be changed out to work with the trucks black box besides that its the same. the tail housing can be changed or left alone. doesnt matter either or

Dude... that 4L60 is NOT... I repeat... NOT going to bolt as a plug & play unit.

The F-body version is DIFFERENT from the truck version. The input shaft/drum, pump (even part #s are different), and bellhousing are different. Everything else is the same. See the pic below. F-body shaft on the one to the left, truck version on the right.

If you don't believe me, wait for the pros to chime in, but that's the truth. You can change those parts to make 'em work, but don't think it'll bolt up as-is and run.

So couldn't you just use an fbody converter and not have to change out the input shaft?

Now that, dear sir, is an idea. Though I'm not 100% sure if you need to change out the flexplate or anything. That would seem like it would indeed be easier if you didn't want tear down the trans, but I do not know the answer to that one.

unless you are referrign to a early year truck trans then yea, but my 02 trans was teh same!!!!!!!!!!!!! i speak from experience not somethign you read off the net
