Default Will this 4l60e work in my truck?

I found a built 4l60e with everything you can possibly upgrade done to it including a custom, slightly larger than vette, servo... I'm told that it came out of a '97 firebird which should bolt right up, however I'm not positive it came out of a '97... The main body of the tranny and the bellhousing are a single piece unit and when it's somewhat bolted up in place not all of the bellhousing mounts line up and the tranny mount looks to be about 2" short of my crossmember. Also, the bottom half of the bellhousing angles back exposing the bottom of the t/c...

I'm assuming this is a pre-97 4l60e, and if so, is there any way i can make it work in my '01 with an lq9???

Also, the t/c mounts sit about 3/8" away from the flexplate...

Doug

Search the topic. I'm 99% certain the the 4l60 in the ls motor car/trucks have a different bellhousing and input shaft spline. I had a 97 model 4l60 I was gonna have built but was told it wound not work behind my 5.3. 97 firebird had the LT1 also and not the LS1.

So basically I need to replace the input shaft, modify the crossmember and possibly the driveshaft yoke too, in order to get this tranny to work?

Thanks for all the input!

I have searched multiple threads but after reading them for an hour my head is spinning from all the different opinions...

I would recommend getting the right transmission for your vehicle. It just does not make sense to go through the hassle of trying to make it work. Vince

Thanks for the advice vince, it's just that i picked this tranny up at a decent price and it's built to handle 700hp so if it's possible i would like to make this one work...

Is it necessary to change the input shaft? Is it safe to run it if just 4 of the bellhousing bolts line up with the block? What exactly is required to make this tranny work in my truck?

Don't really have any other options right now so any help is greatly appreciated!
