Default wierd noise

So earlier tonight I got in my truck backed up then started to pull off and heard a whining noise coming from under the truck it sounded like. After a few minutes it went away and didnt do it again. I just got my truck back about a week ago from doing an 80e swap, and have never heard this noise before. I was like once it warmed up it stopped. Any ideas. I hoping tommorow when I go drive it, it doesnt do it.

Alright guys this morning I just went and drove the truck again. It is still making the noise, more of a squealing sound. It only does it when the truck is moving. The noise is worse when you take off for the first time then seems to get less noisey. Could it possibly be the brakes? Would the transmission make a squeal sound, it seems to shift perfectly. This is really bugging the hell out of me, any suggesstions much appreciated. Nick

Check your brake pad wear, sounds like the wear sensors are rubbing on the rotors...when they first start to wear they may only squeal while cold then go away as it warms up. Does the squealing go away when you step on the brake pedal? If so, it's time for new brakes

You no I didnt try hitting the brakes to see but I havent changed the pads in a long time, I really hope thats what it is. Not really sure how long the noise has been there either, to cold to ride with the windows down. My wife noticed it last night and said whats that noise.

Alright so earlier today I put the truck on jack stands and the noise is deff coming from the tranny. This sucks so bad just got the truck back little over a week ago. The noise seems to be getting louder too. When I bought the tranny only had 43k on it so just threw a shift kit and verter in it and let it ride, I guess this was a mistake. What in the tranny would make this high squeal noise?

i have an 06 2500hd with the 4L80e and mine was makin a similar werid noise but it was only when the trany was in first gear. found out on alldata (an auto tech's, vehicle info software program) that a whining screeching noise is the tcc-torq conv clutch or somthing wrong in the tranny even if it drives and shifts like a dream. the 4L80's all seem to have this prob. posted solution isto replace tranny or tcc. i replaced the tcc and never heard the noise again

Mine is doing this at 24mph when it's really cold out up until the truck is completely warm.

Suspect the thick fluid may be causing Converter issues but I dunno if it's technically a problem or of it's just making the noise because the fluid is thick.

It's very faint howling.
