Why does everybody like the 4L80e over the 4L60e???

Put some Lucas in my trans 500 miles ago and its holding up from the horrible slipping for now, but don't have much time left before 2-3 don't work. Max goals later down the road 5-600hp
Should I have my 4L60e rebuilt $1500+ good to 500-600hp or buy a low mile used 4L80e?
Besides the obvious 4L80e are much stronger of a transmission in stockish form, what about the higher ratios causing slower track times?

For the power you are putting out a 4L60E is fine. I had mine rebuilt by JW Performance with goodies for less than what you are quoted and included modifying the stall in the converter. Your price include installation?
The 4L80E has taller low gears that a low hp motor doesn't like. But they are very tough.

Piece of mind really. It seems like a junkyard 80E with a shift kit will outlast any built 60E and is MUCH cheaper. You will lose a little power with the 80E but it's not much. If the gearing is off you can swap out the gear in the rear.

500-600 is gonna be hit and miss, i laid down over 600 with the juice on a level 2 PB 60E i feel though my trans was setup right for what i used it for, one thing i kept is cool as possible, then everything was balanced and all angles of the drivetrain was deal on to what i was trying to achieve, i personally think the 4 link kept it alive though it ran in a ecsb for a few years with just cal tracs, i personally dont think i could by another and put it through the same abuse and get 7 years out of it
go 80E and good luck hope it all works out for ya!!

$1500-2500 isn't going to get a 60E to 500HP reliably (in anything bigger than a Corvette), but for that price an 80E is already pushing 750HP (at SUV weight, no less).
The gear ratios are closer (you lose a little launching torque) but the step from 1-2 is much less steep and doesn't drop you out of the powerband. The 3-4 is also closer together and you get a little more RPM in overdrive.

Very awesome info everybody
My transmission guy has been rebuilding camaro, nova, chevelle transmission for us for years that's why the price is so low for me. He would normally charge $2300 for this build.
What's a ball park for a good deal on a used 4L80e? I'm seeing them all over the internet for different prices. Any quick tips on what to look for good or bad when buying a used transmission?
