only a thought.... I definitely dont have that kind of dough to drop on a driveshaft... maybe Empire is the way to go then. If I dont switch to a 1 piece, I'll have a 2 piece built by Denny's... but not the CF though LOL...

Yeah, you guys are forgetting this is a 72"+ long driveshaft. no one has tah capability or the confidence to build a driveshaft this long due to inherent critical speed issues with this. When my DS bombed out I got a replacement from a yard for about 120 if I remember, checked out car-part.com. Of course then I coudn't find anyone in the area that would high speed balance (they could put it on the machine, but didn't want to weld to it or add weights i guess). I now stay below 100 until I can fix that and get a DS loop.

Well, the original poster didn't put this information in his first post, and half of the entries in this thread are irrelevant because of the resulting inferences and confusion. There are only a few of us who have been following this guy's issues and know all the details from memory.

Let this thread serve as a warning to others - PUT ALL OF THE RELEVANT INFORMATION IN YOUR THREAD OR PEOPLE WILL GIVE YOU REPLIES THAT AREN'T HELPFUL !!!!!

I talked with all of the people in this thread (and more) including Denny's, Inland Empire Driveline, etc. and none of them would agree to build me a 72" aluminum driveshaft for under $750. They said it was too long for them to build reliably in aluminum, and if I wanted an aluminum one that long my best bet was OEM. Which is what I ended up doing.

God I swear I wonder why I bother posting here sometimes.....no one seems to listen

The dealership wanted over $450.00 for one.
Anywhere else?

Jim
I would consider an aluminum driveshaft from a diesel that could be cut down to the appropriate size. They are strong and huge!

I listen! That's why I ended up going OEM too, read your whole shebang last time, did research of my own (read - control freak) and confirmed everything you said.

DJM told the shop that my truck is at, that the 1-piece aluminum DS will not hold up to the power I will be making. They quit working on it now.
Looks like I will be going back to stock ride hidth..... I'm tired of wasting my time & money on this lowered truck stuff. To me, it looked fine at regular ride hidth.IMO. Just not wrth it anymore.
I need to get back into putting my performance stuff on and be done with this suspension stuff
It seems there isnt any driveline specific shops here in Houston. I really find that hard to believe.
Well, hopefully it will stop vibrating after returning it to stock. If it doesn't, then the problem will be in the rear axle.
