Default Whats up with my tranny?

Ok guys just as the title says im trying to firgure out what excatly is wrong with it.

Its a 4l60e rebuilt with an alto red eagel master rebuild kit and some other goodies including a transgo shift kit(hd-2) and a TB Stall(i6) ive been having trouble with the tranny from the day i got it back. It will shift from 1-2 hard as rock but when it gets to the 2-3 shift it will rev up, if i let of the pedal though i will get it to shift. And it will shift hard which makes me think it might be electrical since it doesnt slip. Also my O/D doesnt work i can sometimes get it to work and like i said it will shift very hard also then?

Any one have any ideas on whats going on?

Also when i was reinstalling the tranny i notice a little breather on the top of it which i couldnt figure out where it went could this be the problem?

Thanks alot guys

Brandon

The rev up is called flaring. Ask a local shop what's the cause. I had it but the shop fixed i

Ok well im not transmission literate. So.. is there a way to fix this flaring problem with out taking it back to the shop?

Becuase yea everytime its about to shift 2-3 it will hit the rev limiter, but if i ease up on the throtle it will shift and hard for that fact.

Ok i just took it out for anothertest drive and the 1st gear works great will pull hard all the way through, 2nd gear also works great will also pull hard all the way through.

When i get to third it will just hit the rev limiter if i let, which i dont. What i said before i thought it was shift into third when i eased up on the pedal it is actually downshifting back into second now i think just looking at the rpms. Im cruising at 55 or 60 mph i cant remeber at 2500 rpms whish seems a little bit high.

Does this seem like a burnt up 3-4 clutch pack? i just have a hard time believing it since the tranny only has about 25-30 miles on it since the build. Also if i did burn up the 3-4 clutch pack can i remove my pan and see metal debri to verify this issue?

Thanks Brandon

If it seems like it tries to shift into 3rd but slips back in 2nd, and 4th gear never engages, there's a possibility the 3-4 clutch pack is worthless. If the shop didn't install 'em correctly, it'll rip 'em apart rather quickly... been there before. You will see some clutch shavings in the pan if they have been ripped apart.

Had the same problem with mine a few months back... shift from 1-2, and then just rev like hell instead of hittin' 3rd. I took it in and has the clutches, shift solenods and steels replaced. Guy said it'd been rebuilt before with the wrong parts, so... I dunno. But yeah, It popped up a SES light on me for a tranny slip. But, yeah, my trans expertise goes about as far as the drive to the tranny shop. Cost me a good chunk of cash too. Money I coulda used for exhaust or a cam. But, I feel your pain. It sucks, I drove it around in 2nd for a month, running 4000-4500 on the interstate.

Flared-shift problem like that will have to go back to the builder. You shouldn't even try to tune it out. Even if you managed to do it, you'd just be masking a bigger problem.
