Default Whats the best 4L80E flexplate to use and thoughts on a shift kit

I seem to have cracked the flexpltae on my 05 tahoe Z71 5.3 with 4L80E trans swap so I need to get a GOOD replacement as I dont really want to repeat this over and over again. My Question is should I use a TCI, Hughes Performance, or what?? Also, I'm thinking of possibly installing a transgo HD2 Shift kit in it while I have it apart, but I would like to know some input and suggestions about this because I pull a fair amount of weight occasionally (loaded open car trailer)and plan to purchase another camper in the future(recently sold mine). Would I be better off to install a shift kit while I have it apart or would I just be able to tune the transmission with my hptuners pro to get the best results? P.S. I am in the process of building an LQ4 from an 05 2500HD that will be going in in the future. ANY opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Did you go with the 6 bolt 6.0 plate or did you stay with the 3 bolt 5.3 plate? The 6.0 plate that went in mine was much beefier than the 5.3 plate.

Circle D sells 2 nice replacement flex plates, one is cheaper but still strong.

We have a few LS flexplate choices. What converter are you running? This will determine your options.

And thanks guys, appreciate the referrals....

I went with the 6 bolt 6.0 plate with spacer.

I am using a stock 2500HD converter from an 04 gmc truck, 6 bolt and on a side note should I consider changing that up a bit while I'm in there too? Thanks for the input guys!

you can always add a stall converter and go to a 3 bolt style like what you originally had. Chris builds them that way, and then you ditch the spacer all together. Stall plus new 3 bolt flex plate and your done. Chris may sell a beefed up 6 bolt flex plate but Im not sure.

Our aluminum flexplate has the 6 lug 4L80 bolt pattern, but they are a bit overkill for you. And since you are looking to upgrade to a performance converter, sounds like our 278mm will be a great choice. It has the 3 lug LS bolt pattern and can use our steel SFI flexplate and save you money. We have them in a 2600-2800 and a 3000-3200 range. If you want to send me an Ask Chris from with your specs, be glad to help recommend one for you. Link is in sig...
