i drive a 1998 GMC Sierra 2wd with a 5.7L. i just wanna kno what tranny i have and what rearend... i kno that i have 3.42 gears from factory but im wantin to go up to 3.73's and maybe a small torque converter. thanks for any help.

 

I would say 4l60 tranny and 8.5" ten bolt rear.

Unless you have some sort of special order they are correct.

 

go count the number of bolts on the rear axle cover to see if its a 10bolt

I believe so. They are basically the same tranny except for the electronics that control the e.
